BrickHats

My seven year old is totally obsessed with Lego. He breathes, eats, and sleeps, and talks a bit more, Lego. Our house is full of Lego. It is absolutely everywhere. So can you imagine what an excitable morning it was in our house when he opened one of his birthday presents and it was his very own Lego Snapback! He didn’t even know they existed. And straight away he customised it…

BrickHats is the UK home of Brick Brick Gear and is a patented brick system hat that is compatible with Lego and variouos other toy bricks. You can create scenes, build your name, and show off your master builder skills for all your friends to see.

These hats are such good quality too, and definitely worth the price of £25. You can also add a little selection of bricks for an extra £2.50 which is a nice little add-on. If you have a Lego fan at home then this is definitely worth putting on the list for Santa! I have even managed to get an extra 20% for my readers, so look out for the promo code below!

We’d love to see your photographs of your kiddies (or grown ups) in their hats with their own creations! Take a look at some creations in the video below.

The discount code expires on 24th November, so be quick!

The Snowman Tour 2017

Who loves Christmas? You do? Then we can be friends! I love this time of year so much, I’m like a big kid still, and my children share my excitement too, my husband not so much. I’d put my decoration and tree up in November if my husband agreed, sadly he doesn’t! He does agree to Christmas movies though, and one of our absolute favourites is The Snowman. I’ve always loved it so much, even as a little girl. It makes you feel all warm an fuzzy inside don’t you think?

This year we are going to watch The Snowman Tour, and we are SO excited, it looks amazing! Take a look at this little promo video;

How wonderful does it look? The live orchestra sounds amazing.

There are several venues in various areas hosting The Snowman, they include Blackpool Tower Ballroom, Chester, Derby, Liverpool, Hull, and various others. Take a look here to find your nearest venue. Tickets are already selling like hot cakes so book yours asap!

The classic film is shown on a big screen accompanied by a live orchestra playing the original score. A young local soloist will also sing the classic “Walking in the air” and there will also be a visit from the Snowman himself. How exciting! I’m not sure who is going to be more excited out of me and children!

And not only do you get to see this performance of The Snowman there is also a short animated film being shown too, this varies from venue to venue but will be The Nutcracker, Cinderella, or The Bear and the Piano. Double whammy!

Go and book your tickets today and add a little extra magic to Christmas this year! Look out for us!

Logojoy Review

I recently came across a site that creates you a personalised logo. There are so many sites out there, so I didn’t expect this be to be any different in my cynical opinion. BUT I was so, so wrong! Logojoy is a wonderful website, and is so easy to use. I was so impressed with how easy it was to have a personalised Logo created for you within minutes.

If you’re in business then you know how much hassle it is setting out initially in terms of your branding, there are so many things to consider, and so much time is spent too-ing and fro-ing with your graphic designers and webmasters, but not any more! Logojoy basically takes all of the elements you wish to incorporate into your branding, and then creates several options for you to choose from and edit at the click of a button.

Logojoy has one of the most accessible websites I have used, and I’ve used a lot! It takes you through a step by step design process. You enter your business name, it asks you to then pick 5 styles of logo you like and a colour palette you prefer. The colour palette option even gives you some indication of the moods and emotions those certain colours depict. You can add a little tagline to your logo too, which I think is very important in letting potential customers/readers know exactly what the ethos of your company/brand is. You can then choose up to five symbols/graphics that you feel would work well incorporated into your branding. There is a search engine you use for this and it is so easy to use, no complications at all.

After you have provided all of your customisations preferences you are presented with several logo options. I was so impressed with them all, they looked really professional and had incorporated everything that I had chosen. I even had the option to further edit the logos if I wished to change some of the aspects of them. And if you do happen to get stuck, which I highly doubt as the site is so well thought out, there is also a chat option to ask questions and receive advice. This added a really personal touch to the site I think.

Once your logo is complete you simply click buy and choose your package. Packages start from just $20 which is an amazing price, there are also various add-ons you can add to your package, so it tailors to everyone, both small businesses and large businesses.

I highly recommend this site, from the bottom of my heart I genuinely do think it is a really fabulous way to get your branding designed or renovated. Go take a look!

Casdon Kenwood Mixer

My boys have always loved imaginary play, especially baking and cafes. We have wooden food you can dice, plastic veg, wooden pull-apart meats, teapots, coffee machines, tea sets, a cash register, pretty much anything you can imagine would be needed for role-play we have it! We even have a little wooden macaron and fresh cream cake set, which my 5yo loves to pretend to make and then sell at his cafe.

We used to have a plastic mixer which was well loved, so much so that it only lasted about 10 weeks until it broke at the hands of my 5yo, so we were so excited to find this new Casdon Kenwood Mixer!

The mixer is so realistic, and promotes imaginary play as well as hand-eye co-ordination, social skills, and also problem solving. It’s been a big hit here in our hoouse. This mixer features  two speed settings, a whisk beater, a spatula, and a recipe book. The mixer can also be either hand or battery operated, which adds another dimension to the mixer.

The mixer is £22.99, and in my opinion is very worth it. It’s easy to use and is easy for the kids to change the whisk over too. It’s very robust, and also looks so realistic. Both of my boys love it, and I think they will for quite a long time too.

Happy (fake) baking kiddies!

Disney Crossy Road Review

We are huge fans of Disney in our house both online, in movies, on TV, on our tablets, and also for toys, so we always get excited about new additions; and Disney Crossy Road is one of them! They have just released pixelated minifigures and pixelated plushes to coincide with their very popular app Crossy Road.

Each character comes with a unique rarity status; rare, epic, secret, legendary, limited edition! There are over 40 characters to collect which include Mickey, Toy Story, Big Hero 6 and Lion King. They are great collecting-fun for all of the family, not just the children!

My five year old loves his new Buzz plush! Buzz is £9.99 and makes the perfect bedtime companion or travel partner.

We’ve also loved the Crossy Road pixelated minifigures. You can buy them in either small mystery boxes for £2.99, or in packs of 4 for £9.99.

My boys had lots of fun with their minifigures.

The Disney Crossy Road collection is available online, and also from Tesco, Asda, Toyrs R Us, Smyths, and Argos.

And if your kids love watching other people open toys and surpise eggs etc, then there are also some great unboxing videos over on Moose Toys, which my boys also enjoyed too!

Happy collecting!

Schleich Wildlife New Forest Playsets

My five year old is a big lover of animals, and animal toys, so it goes without saying that he is a huge fan of Schleich products. I must admit, so am I, their quality always astounds me. Last week we discovered that Schleich had bought out a new range of play sets, so we thought we would road test one of them; The European Forest Dweller Play Set.

It consisted of a wild boar, a red deer, and a fox. They all live in the forests of Europe. My five year old loved them, and of course the animals ended up having a fight! Of course!

These animals have been subjected to an awful lot so far here with us; Show & Tell at school, Scooby Doo adventures, sandpit adventures, and have travelled a lot of places with us. They are definitely a big hit. These animals are aimed at 3-6 years and cost £13.99.

If the forest play set isn’t your kind of thing don’t fret, there are many more sets to choose from. They have three categories of play sets; Wild Life, Farm World, and Eldrador. The first two are pretty self explanatory really, but Eldrador…it’s dragons! (This set is aimed a little higher in age range at 5-8 year olds). Prices range from £9.99 through to £14.99.

If you haven’t given Schleich a try yet you most definitely should, you won’t be disappointed!

Scooby Doo Mystery Minis Range

We are huge fans of Scooby Doo here! Both of my boys love it. We watch it, we read it, we play it! We’ve even had a Scooby Doo themed party which I’m sure you saw in October last year over on my Instagram! We have a lot of Scooby Doo toys, one of our favourites is the Scooby Doo Mystery Of The Frighthouse Playset. It’s fab!

My boys love creating their own adventures, and the Scooby Doo Mystery Minis range has further added to their Scooby fun! There are some really cool monster-catching vehicles in this range, which come with a 2.5″ action figure included. There are three different ones to choose from; Monster Trawler, Monster Catcher, and Monster Motorbike (all including a figure). We have the Monster Catcher with Fred. These are £9.99 and well worth the purchase!

We had a lot of fun using it with the Fright House set we have!

We have lots of the 5″ figures, probably more than we should have, but we have a whole lot of love for Scooby Doo and friends (& villains),  so we were really excited when Scooby Doo Mystery Minis Figures came out. They sell them in packs of two for £4.99. My boys loved them! There are six different packs to collect and they include the Mystery Crew and a selection of villains.

We paired our Minis with our playset again, it kept them occupied for hours, and they actually shared!

There are so many great items within the Scooby Doo range from Character; stackable soft toys, goo pod figures, playsets, and so many more.  Go and have a look!

Scooby FTW here!

National Sea Life Centre Birmingham

This weekend we were extremely honoured to be invited to visit the National Sea Life Centre Birmingham to explore their Ancient Oceans event. We love the Sea Life Centre, and it never ceases to amaze us, so with the added lure of Dinosaur Detection it was a great day out.

The Ancient Oceans event is running until 21st February, and takes you back in time to when dinosaurs roamed the land, and fearsome creatures lurked in the depths of the bubbly blue. There are challenges to complete and secrets to discover which can be exchanged for a Dinosaur Detective certificate at the end, plus a Sea Life Centre medal. There are lots of different activities going on during the event, and you’re also given a timetable for the centre at the admissions desk.

One of our challenges was to keep a look out for seven bones as we made our way around the centre. We had a sheet with the bones on and a sheet of numbered stickers to add on once we discovered them on the  journey around. My two boys (three if I include my husband) loved this.

Our first port of call was the penguins. There is a big wall of frost and ice as you reach the penguins, and my boys love leaving their handprints on there, it’s a lovely way for the children to get a full-on sensory experience. The penguins always amaze my children, and being able to see them both on land and in the water is fascinating.

As you make your way around the centre there is always something to look at. The floor to ceiling fish tank is amazing, and always captivates my three year old. There is also a rock pool area where you can get hands on with some sea creatures. My boys are usually too anxious to touch any of the sea creatures, but this time they decided beforehand they were going to be brave and touch a starfish, and my 5yo carried out his plans, the 3yo ran a mile.

The coral cave also captured the attention of my children, it was so lovely being able to get so close to the fish, even this yellow fellow below!

The Sea Life Centre has really taken interaction on-board in it’s structure. A favourite part for us was the Starfish area, my boys loved this. It’s a fantastic way to get up close and personal with these sea creatures. There are pop up domes to stand under, tunnels to climb through, and portholes to look through. They really enjoyed this part.

The jelly fish are another part my boys loved. It’s great being able to get so close.

20160217_202342

During the Ancient Oceans event there are activities in a small room by the otter enclosure.  My boys loved discovering dinosaur fossils, and as a reward they were given a real shark tooth! These teeth are now their pride and joy!

IMG_20160214_151652IMG_20160213_115106

There are several fun interactive boards around the centre too, this one was a big hit with my 3yo!

20160217_202449

The 360 degrees Oceanic Tunnel is amazing at the Sea Life Centre. It’s such a wonderful experience, and my children and I are always amazed. They always look out for the giant sea turtle too!

And, of course, at the end there is a mini soft play for the kiddies that always ends our trip well!

Up close with sea star at Sea Life Birmingham

Thanks for another great day out National Sea Life Centre Birmingham, we’ll definitely be back soon!
